Olive Oil Harvest Time in Campania

Antonio invited us over to Campania for a few days during the start of the olive oil harves.  Firstly, many thanks to him for his superb hospitality.

It's a very busy time for both our  growers in Italy at the moment.  The temperatures are just starting to drop enabling the harvesting of the olives from the trees to begin.  Once off the trees, the olives are rushed back to the mills (frantoio) and the pressing of the olives commences.  Time is of the essence in this process so there are lots of people running around and we didn't want to get in the way, of course, but got a few pictures (see the colour of the olive oil below).

The smell in the mills is terrific, so so fresh.  Antonio promises the olio nuovo this year will be fantastic... this will be arriving to your door at the start of January, fresh from the grove!
